Text Box: In 1994, Merle M. Singer and a group of concerned members of the community decided that in order to improve the quality of life in the Yucca Corridor, they had to organize.  Armed with determination and commitment they formed the Yucca Corridor Coalition of Property Owners and Managers.

Text Box: As a property owner in the Yucca Corridor and community activist, Merle led the march for total commitment to addressing quality of life issues that affect property owners, residents, and business owners in the community.  She serves as Civilian Co-Chair Emeritus of the Hollywood Community Police Advisory Board, is a consultant to the Children’s Hospital Hollywood Team Community Project, Hollywood  CPAB Traffic Committee, Co-founder and Chair of the Yucca Corridor Slum Abatement Task Force.  

The prestigious Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Woman of Distinction Award of 1998 was one of many recognition's that Merle M. Singer has garnered during her career of community service.

Under her leadership YCC has embarked on a multi-phase Beautification Program that will include the Gateway to Hollywood, to be followed by lighting, greening, art, and related projects that will make the Corridor a major area the entire City of Los Angeles can point to with pride.
