On May 30, 2007, the City of Los Angeles was the recipient of the Blue Star Memorial Plaque (est. 1945) from the Los Angeles Garden Club through the Yucca Corridor Coalition and their Gateway to Hollywood, beautification median park. The ceremony took place during National Military Appreciation Month on the historic Memorial Day to honor our country's fallen war heroes.
Attending the unveiling ceremony were Johnny Grant (honorary Mayor of Hollywood), Tom LaBonge (District 4 Councilman), Leron Gubler (President of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce), Tom Urich (Commander of American Legion Post 43), and the Board of Directors for YCC. The Marine Corps Color Guard presented the colors.
