BACKGROUND
The Yucca Corridor Coalition of Property Owners and Managers has long been regarded as the moving force behind the revitalization and beautification of the Yucca Corridor, since 1994, and has embarked on a Three Phase Comprehensive Beautification Program that begins with the Gateway To Hollywood Project.
Community enthusiasm for the Gateway Project was tied to the dramatic and viable plans as developed by the famed Woodbury University School of Architecture who designed what has been described as the "epitome of gateway concepts."
Having presented the concept and model of the Gateway to City, Community, and Business leadership, YCC was encouraged to proceed and received unanimous support and funding commitment for the majority of the costs of construction and landscaping.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The site which has been selected for the Gateway to Hollywood project is a triangular parcel of property on the northwest corners of Franklin Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard, and is a haven for homeless and undesirables who detract from the quality of life in the area, and whose presence affects property values, business, and resident concerns for safety.
These concerns have been pointedly demonstrated by police statistics and community observations which lend to the conclusion that, left unattended and without resolution, will promote conditions which lead to deterioration of a neighborhood attendant with crime, drugs, and those elements associated with such blight.
The landscaping and creation of a Park Plaza, incorporating features discouraging loitering or providing a haven for drug dealers and other miscreants will provide a vehicle to prevent such things from occurring, thereby offering a safe, secure, and quality area which residents and visitors alike can be comfortable in using.
Support of the Gateway to Hollywood Project will enable the Yucca Corridor Community, Hollywood, and the City of Los Angeles to recognize your commitment to providing a means to enhance the quality of life, the beautification of Hollywood, and the pride in announcing to travelers and visitors the northern Gateway to Hollywood, Entertainment Capitol of the World
